Smt. Krishna Tirath

Smt. Krishna Tirath is a member of the Union Cabinet in the Government of India holding the portfolio of Minister of State (Independent charge), Women and Child Development since May, 2009. As a member of Indian National Congress, she has successfully contested 7 elections and served as a Metropolitan Councillor, Member of Legislative Assembly from 1984-2004, and currently represents the North West constituency of Delhi as a member of parliament in the 15th Lok Sabha. She has also been the Deputy speaker of Delhi Assembly. She has served in important parliamentary committees, such as the Parliament Standing Committee on Women Empowerment; Member of General Purposes Committee, Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, Committee on Personnel, Public grievances, Law and Justice etc. As Chairperson of Parliament Standing Committee on Women Empowerment, she steered the publications of 14 valuable reports with analysis of various schemes and legislations which impact women.

Her key initiatives in the social sector amongst others include expansion and strengthening of the Integrated Child Development Services in India, implementation of a new scheme for maternity benefits (Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojna), an innovative programme for empowerment of adolescent girls (Rajiv Gandhi scheme for the empowerment of adolescent girls-SABLA) and the National Mission for the Empowerment of Women. She has pioneered a new landmark legislation for children that is 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences' and has also introduced a landmark legislation for women namely 'The Protection of Women for Sexual Harassment at Workplace'.

Smt. Tirath has represented India at several important international forums, and has been a member of important high level ministerial delegations such as the Indo-US Strategic Dialogue at Washington DC chaired by US secretary of state and co-chaired by MEA Minister from India, bilateral dialogue with US Health& Human Services department, global summit at USA on Child survival, the IBSA Women's Forum held in Pretoria, South Africa, the Global Nutrition Event chaired by United Kingdom Prime Minister in London. Under her leadership, Ministry of WCD has recently concluded the Fifth India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Women's Forum meet in New Delhi from 14- 16th May resulting in a resolution on important areas of collaboration on gender issues between the three member countries.

Dr. Margaret Chan

Dr Margaret Chan, from the People's Republic of China, obtained her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She joined the Hong Kong Department of Health in 1978, where her career in public health began.

She also introduced new initiatives to improve communicable disease surveillance and response, enhance training for public health professionals, and establish better local and international collaboration.

She effectively managed outbreaks of avian influenza and of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

In 2003, Dr Chan joined WHO as Director of the Department for Protection of the Human Environment. In June 2005, she was appointed Director, Communicable Diseases Surveillance and Response as well as Representative of the Director-General for Pandemic Influenza. In September 2005, she was named Assistant Director-General for Communicable Diseases.

Dr Chan was elected to the post of Director-General on 9 November 2006. The Assembly appointed Dr Chan for a second five-year term at its sixty-fifth session in May 2012. Dr Chan's new term will begin on 1 July 2012 and continue until 30 June 2017.

Smt.Sheila Dikshit 

Smt. Sheila Dikshit  was sworn-in as Chief Minister for the third consecutive term of the Govt. of NCT  of Delhi on 15th December, 2003. She is the second woman Chief Minister of Delhi. She represents Gole Market Constituency in the Assembly. Smt. Dikshit brings to the administration vast experience in Administrative and Parliamentary matters. She also Chaired the Implementation Committee for Commemoration of Forty Years of India's Independence and Jawaharlal Nehru centenary. As President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, she led her party to a sweeping victory in the Assembly elections in 1998. She is strongly committed to Secularism and has from every platform fought against the rise of communal forces. She practices the belief that if democracy is to truly survive in India, the basic norms of correct behavior and rectitude have to form an integral part of public life .

Hon’ble Baijayant‘Jay’Panda

Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda or Jay Panda, as he is better known, was elected to the Parliament of India, Lower House (Lok Sabha) from Kendrapara Constituency, Odisha in May 2009. Earlier Jay Panda had been twice elected to Parliament, Upper House (Rajya Sabha) in 2000 and 2006, also from the State of Odisha. He is a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party. He assisted the late Biju Patnaik and subsequently Naveen Patnaik, who founded the Biju Janata Dal party, which has found strong acceptance from the people of Odisha and has been repeatedly voted back in elections.

In Parliament and public life, Jay Panda passionately espouses the cause of his home state Odisha as well as other national issues close to his heart, such as economic development, education and information technology. He frequently participates in national television discussions and writes op-ed pieces in newspapers. He holds a Private Pilot’s license for aircraft and helicopters and enjoys adventure sports like skydiving and bungee jumping. Currently, he is a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce as well as the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Human Resource Development. In 2012, he introduced a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament seeking Plain Packaging on Tobacco Products in India.
